FAQs

  1. What is your return policy?
Unfortunately, in order to maintain the integrity of our fragrance oils, we do not accept returns on these products. We highly recommend ordering the 1-oz. sample size of any scent before buying larger quantities to ensure it works well for your application. (Of course, if there is a problem with your order, we are happy to help!) Wick-setting or wick-centering tools may be returned if they do not fit or you encounter any problems.

  2. Do you offer "clean" fragrance oils?
In short: we believe our standards are similar to or exceed the standards of other vendors who use terms like "clean" – but it's important to note that there is no standard for use of this term.

Expanding a bit, and more suppliers have been using this term recently, but the reality is that this term is not regulated. We have long been disappointed with the lack of transparency in the fragrance and candle supply industry, and this is one of the reasons we got into business in the first place.

We tackle this problems in two ways. First, we have our own strict safety standards that exceed industry norms (beyond IFRA standards). Our standards include no use of synthetic ingredients subject to Proposition 65 labeling as well as ingredients where data suggest similar characteristics or concerns. Second but equally important, we provide all relevant regulatory and safety documentation for all of our fragrance oils so you can apply your own standards if you have specific concerns. This includes the IFRA certificate and SDS (which unlike many other vendors includes both the optional and required sections and no hiding behind "proprietary information").

Further, what makes us unique is that we simply don't sell any product that does not meet our stringent standards. With our product line, there's no need to distinguish "clean" or not!

  3. Can I use your fragrance oils in soap, lotion, reed diffusers, and other products too?
Usually, but check to be sure of usage rates! The IFRA certificate for your specific fragrance oil will list the maximum usage for various categories products. (This is a the maximum allowable usage per industry safety standards, not a recommendation for actual use — you can and may want to use less.)

  4. What is an IFRA certificate, and how do I use it?
The International Fragrance Association, or IFRA, provides standards surrounding the safe use of fragrance materials (like our fragrance oils) in finished products (like your candles, soap, or other goods). An IFRA certificate shows the maximum usage according to these standards, broken down by category and sometimes subcategory according to the exact type of product.

Typically, usage in candles is not restricted, whereas usage in soap or lotion (and other products) is often lower. Each fragrance oil is made up of different components and is therefore a bit different. Check the IFRA certificate for your particular fragrance oil for maximum usage in your particular product.

Note that the IFRA certificate lists maximum percentages (from an industry standard safety standpoint), not a recommendation for actual use (from a product performance standpoint). Always follow the guidelines for your wax, base, or other product. Do not exceed the maximum for either, even if one is higher (and consider you may not need the maximum for either to get the desired performance in your product — while we'd love for you to buy more fragrance oil from us, the reality is that less sometimes performs better!).

  5. Do you sell anywhere else?
Yes! You can also find most of our products on our Amazon storefront, complete with Prime-eligible shipping for most items if you are a member (check the particular product page for details).
